We are looking for a fantastic Oncology Pharmacist to work with a large NHS Hospital service located in Worthing along the south coast. If you’re looking for your next challenge, congratulations! You’ve just found it! Info can be seen below:

  • Job Title: Band 7/8a Oncology Pharmacist - Locum 
  • Location: Worthing based location along the South Coast - free parking on offer!
  • Duration: 12 months role length if wanted! 
  • Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9am - 5.00pm (30 mins lunch), but part time working days may also be considered 
  • Start Date: February/March 2024 
  • End Date: February/March 2025
  • Rate of pay: £30 - £37.50 per hour (depending on skill set and prior experience)
  • No prior ONCOLOGY experience is required for this role, but applicants MUST have a high level of previous hospital pharmacy experience to be considered, and upskilled. 

A Day in the Life of an Oncology Pharmacist. 

As a specialist Oncology Pharmacist, you will play a crucial role assisting not only the ward teams, but the office based teams and nurses across the hospital too. 

  • Previous Hospital experienced is a requirement for this role - you will need to come in and hit the ground running here, but Oncology training can be provided to those without previous Oncology experience. 
  • Check off orders for Oncology drugs
  • Verifying Oncology prescriptions
  • Releasing Oncology prescriptions
  • Check the correct Oncology drugs have been dispensed
  • Medicines reconciliation and drug chat screening possibly involved too 
  • Offering advice to patients on the wards, discussing their drug histories and medication taken 
  • Some creening in the dispensary, inpatients and outpatients (mininal) 
  • On site requirement - this is cannot be done remotely 

Requirements and qualifications required for this role:

  • Current and valid registration with the GPHC as a Pharmacist
  • Strong hospital pharmacy experience (prior oncology experience ideal)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to providing high-quality patient care and with a strong interest within Oncology Pharmacy. 

Working hours and contract duration:

This NHS hospital position will require you to work from Monday to Friday, but hours can be flexible. The contract is for 12 months (Feb 2024 – Feb 2025)
